I’m a designer/aspiring archivist/photographer/printmaker/interested in everyday mundanes, discarded objects that can tell the Arab culture and history.
I value the past while archiving the present to inspire the future. Through my archives, I capture the essence of individuals around me, using photography and different mediums as a doorway to tell stories. As someone once said, “you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward.”
I am interested in the mundane of our day-to-day lives that pass unnoticed – a carpet, a broken wheel on the side of the road, or even a pair of crocs left behind. It helps me understand humans and these objects while reflecting on the journey they took to end up where they are. For me, it's a monumental treasure that needs to be investigated and encapsulated.
I am also drawn into the history of my Arab culture, viewing it as a tool for navigation and identifying my present. This has led me to focus my design interests on anthropology. I observe, capture, investigate, to materialize, creating layers in my design using multiple mediums that result in an engaging outcome.
"It's Above and Under" (فوقك تحتك) acts as a platform that enables me to investigate different topics to create tangible interactive manifestations. It’s a point of collaboration to work within the community for the community.
More specifically, working in the realms of publication, prints, exhibitions ideation/curation, ads production, primary research, and creative computing designs, all while holding my core identity as an Arab and valuing human interactions to answer anthropological questions. As a multidisciplinary with a business mindset, I enjoy wrapped responsive projects, working in a fast-paced environment, having the skill to act as the linking point between the task and the right person for it in the design field – a design closer, akin to a legal closer.
